She met him just days after turning 16. Convinced to play wing{wo}man because her friend had a crush on his friend, she tagged along not knowing what to expect.
It didn’t work out for the two friends, but it did for Shay and Russell. Russell couldn’t stop staring at Shay that night. She admits it was a little awkward, but apparently staring is the way to Shay’s heart because they became an item soon after!
Shay and Russell’s relationship is definitely a tale of opposites attracting. She’s into TV shows while he loves his video games. She’s a die-hard Georgia Bulldog fan (‘ata girl!) and wishes him death during football season because he roots for the stinky Florida Gators (I’m not biased at all!). But they’ve learned to compromise with each other always. He’ll even watch a chick flick with her IF she promises to offset it with a manly action movie.
We picked downtown Thomasville, GA for Shay and Russell’s engagement session. Because it was a Sunday, we pretty much had the entire downtown to ourselves (NOTHING is open on Sundays and Mondays). We started shooting just before the “golden hour”, and it sure shows in these photos! Yummy, yummy light!
Shay and Russell are planning a September wedding. They’ll have their hands full with Russell returning back to school in August and with Shay’s busy nursing schedule at Archbold Memorial Hospital. But they can’t wait to celebrate with friends and family and I can’t wait to capture that celebration!
See you both again in a few short months!
